Ingredients
Scale
- 6 (1/2-inch) thick boneless pork chops (about 1.75 pounds)
- Salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Season the pork chops generously with salt and pepper, allowing them to sit while you mix the glaze.
- In a bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, water, garlic, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until they reach an internal temperature of 140ºF. Remove them from the skillet and cover with foil to keep warm.
- Lower the heat slightly and add butter to the skillet. Once melted, add the prepared glaze mixture, bringing it to a boil to thicken slightly.
- Return the pork chops to the skillet, coating them with the glaze, and cook for a few more minutes until they reach 145ºF.
- Serve the pork chops topped with any remaining glaze in the skillet.
Notes
Allow the pork to rest after cooking for more juiciness.
Feel free to adjust the level of cayenne pepper based on your spice preference.
This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables or rice.
