- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts and/or thighs
- 1 ½ cups chicken broth OR stock
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and freshly ground black pepper.
- Layer some chicken pieces in a large slow cooker, seasoning them with the blended spices. Repeat with remaining chicken pieces on top, seasoning again.
- Carefully pour the chicken broth along the side of the slow cooker to keep the seasoning intact.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours until the chicken is very tender.
- Transfer the chicken to a cutting board, chunk it, and shred or dice into smaller pieces.
- Store the shredded chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze in portions for up to 4 months.
