- ½ cup (4 oz/115 g) active sourdough starter
- ½ cup (4 fl oz/120 ml) water , lukewarm
- ⅓ cup plus 1 tablespoon (3 oz/85 g) plain whole milk yogurt
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 ¼ cups (11 ¼ oz/319 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons sea salt
- butter or ghee , melted (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, lukewarm water, yogurt, and vegetable oil until the mixture is smooth.
- Incorporate the flour and salt, stirring until a shaggy dough forms; then knead by hand until the dough is smooth and soft.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with cling wrap and a kitchen towel, and allow it to rise in a warm area until it has doubled in size (approximately 2 hours).
Notes
For best results, use an active sourdough starter.
You can brush the naan with melted butter or ghee just after cooking for added flavor.
